Live

We all love watching our favourite artists playing live, so hearing them is vital. Whether it’s live music for a pub, or an all-day festival, I can step in as the sound engineer.

Recording

Having spent a wealth of time at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Headline Music Studios, I have lots of experience working with a variety of artists in a diverse range of styles. Having an experienced sound engineer can provide a seamless session, letting the artists focus on what they do best – creating great music. I’m a firm believer in attaining great sounds at source, rather than ‘fix it in the mix’.

Depending on your needs, I can contribute creatively to your project, or just focus on technical aspects. Adaptability is something I’m proud of, whether I need to make a voiceover or podcast session run smoothly, or step in the role of producer on the latest hot album.

Mixing

Great, you’ve recorded your material – now what? Mixing is the art form that moulds recordings to push a certain creative direction. Whilst I could go on about the amazing plug-ins and effects I have, what matters here are the ears. Experienced ears means that I can hear what aspects of the piece need to go where, and the techniques can be adapted depending on the stylistic direction of the artist.

Mastering

The final polish for audio. You might have a great mix, but a good master can put your track above someone else’s. This encompasses all metadata arrangement, any final dynamic and EQ tweaking, and altering to meet streaming platform, digital download, and CD standards.
